How Much Does a Home Security System Cost in Edmonton? (2026 Prices)

Kevin Girdler · June 9, 2026

Every home security system has two separate costs: a one-time cost for equipment and installation, and an optional ongoing monitoring fee if you want a centre watching for alarms. A lot of confusion comes from companies blending these into a single monthly payment. We keep them separate so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

What drives the equipment cost

Your total mostly comes down to how many devices you need and how complex the install is: the number of door and window sensors (Ajax sensors start around $51 each), how many cameras and whether they're indoor or weatherproof exterior units rated for Alberta winters ($254–$301 each), wired versus wireless, and smart features like locks and video doorbells.

Starter bundle

Our Ajax security bundle (Hub 2 Plus, two door sensors, a motion detector and a keypad) is about $580 in equipment, before tax.

Where your money goes

  • Door & window sensors — from about $51 each
  • Cameras — about $254–$301 each (NDAA-compliant Ajax)
  • Smart locks — Yale Assure 2 about $341
  • Video doorbell — Ajax doorbell about $343
  • Monitoring — optional, a modest monthly fee with no long-term contract. You own the equipment either way.

A realistic way to budget

  1. Start with what worries you — a back door, a detached garage, a blind spot along the side of the house. Protect those weak points first.
  2. Add devices over time — because you own the gear and there's no contract, you can expand whenever you like, with no penalty.
  3. Get a real quote — the only way to know your exact cost is a free walk-through and a straightforward quote.

Why buy local

  • Free walk-through — we assess your home in person and give straightforward pricing, with no pressure.
  • Fair local pricing — no call centre or sales commissions baked into your price.
  • Veteran-owned — a local team based in Leduc.

Common questions

Is there a monthly contract? No. We don't require long-term contracts. If you choose monitoring, you can cancel with 30 days' notice.

Do I have to pay for monitoring? No — monitoring is optional. Many homeowners self-monitor through their phone.

Will the system still work if I cancel monitoring? Yes. You own the equipment, so it keeps working — you simply lose the monitoring-centre service.
